Michael Turner leads series on Methodist History

For the entire month of September, professor and director of the Methodist House of Studies Dr. Michael Turner will be leading a series at St. John’s United Methodist Church entitled “‘No Holiness but Social Holiness’: How Methodism’s past can inform its future.”

This series will take a deep dive into the history of The United Methodist Church, and how the Church has struggled with serious issues of the past. The Pastor’s Study meets in Room 307.

Sept. 9 – The Poor and the People Called Methodists
Sept. 16 – That ‘Execrable Sum of All Villainies’: Slavery and the Methodists
Sept. 23 – Preachers, Prophetesses, and Providers: Women, Gender Inequality, and the Methodist Tradition
Sept. 30 – Human Sexuality and the Methodist Tradition
